How do debt collection agencies find you if you move house?
My partner owes a small amount of money from about 6 years ago. i met him 2 years ago and he has moved house 3 times since then. We now live together and a debt collection agency has managed to track him now. He’s agreed a payment plan but I’m intrigued as to how they managed to find him. He hasnt been on an electoral role for 5 years so it wasnt from that.
Hi Anon,
They would access other databases (illegally of course). Their main way is by name and date of birth.
If he has bought anything or done anything thats puts him on a data base at this address then that will be enough.
Strangely, I have moved twice this year and this morning received a debt letter from Orange, They have been chasing this amount (which I don’t actually owe) for 3 years now.
It’s a shame your partner contacted them and agreed a payment plan as they legally cannot collect a debt over 6 years old.

I’m looking to rent a new apartment however I’m on a debt management plan. Will this affect my ability to rent?
I am on a debt management plan however all of my accounts are now current on the plan. Will this affect my ability to rent a new apartment?
Just to clarify, I did not file bankruptcy but am simply on a debt management plan for making payments.
Depends on what your credit score is now.
If your credit is still bad you may have to pay a larger security deposit.

my stupid sister in credit card debt?
I’m good with money, but my sister is NOT.
In two months, she has gotten herself into $6000 worth or credit card debt.
She asked to borrow money, but I’d never see it again, so I said I’d help her go on a budget.
Is there a site that helps you manage Debt, with like a calculator or calendar to reach goals?
She just landed a new job, so she’ll be getting around…I’d say 700/month.
How long do you think it will take to slice that amount in half?
Can she apply for a credit card with zero percent interest and transfer the balance?
She definetley needs to get a higher paying job. Can she return/sell any of the items she purchased? Maybe Ebay?
Garage sale? Anything can help!
Take her credit card and break it! She clearly can not handle credit.
Good Luck.
