Here is what I say …
    Here is what I say

    “I am cheap and laizy”

But since I am more cheap than laizy, I will do the physical work necessary to save a buck.

Get your own firewood, gardening, home renovations, fix your own stuff.

    Save money and get fit.

    vention. Thanks! …
vention. Thanks! And yes, being debt free is an amazingly wonderful feeling (quite liberating!). My husband and i have worked very hard to get there (although, I have been the driving force! I am no crazy spender, as is usually the female stereotype on these pages!) , and it’s been well worth it. I watch your videos often (which I really like), and you are obviously well on the way to a similar status. Keep at it – with your great insight and attitude, you will get there sooner than you think.

    hahaha. Yeah I …
hahaha. Yeah I drew the short stick also. But it’s important to not get bitter after an ugly divorce.

My wife turned into the most insane evil hose beast, but I still really admire (and envy) couples who manage to make it work and be happy. Live and learn.

    VV should answer, …
VV should answer, but I always just do math: calculate which is more: The interest you will pay on the home loan, or the earnings you might make on your IRA over the same period of time. If interest is greater PAY IT OFF. With a stable job you’ll come out ahead.

It’s also a faith question on your belief in the dollar. I dumped all my IRA’s, 401k and all other cash savings in fall ’08 (nick of time!) & converted it to silver when it was $11/oz. I now keep only enough USD for daily needs.

    One other money …
One other money savings we do, is buy our furniture used.

I have found some amazing deals on furniture, many times it was brand new but less than used. Some, we got used, also. Not beds, but other furniture.

    I am on my 4th …
I am on my 4th Mazda MPV. One I took to 200,000 and two were totaled in bad accidents, but we inside were ok. Now I am on my fourth one and we got this one brand new. I plan on having it until the wheels fall off.

I had one Ford and hated it because it was a real money pit to keep on the road. I even had a Mercedes, which was my first car, but it was expensive to keep running.

Love the advise. We need to eat at home more. Working on that.

    Could you please do …
Could you please do. That would be of so much help for me. Right now I own a used 2000 dodge stratus with a little less than 160k miles and it still runs (it cost my parents about 2000 dlls) but the car has been having some problems recently and its a pain (oh and I have been cheking the oil, the filter and tire pressure).

  • jcwitness:

    How often are you …
How often are you changing your timing belt?
Honda uses an interference motor that will get completely jacked up if you break your timing belt.
(which should be changed 40-60k miles..but can last 120k).
If it snaps, then the valves will stay in position while piston slams up into the upper cylinder.
    It turns REAL ugly.
Other than that, your Honda is a well built and engineered piece of equipment.
(BTW, most engines from every other mfg are non-interference)

If you want a free …
If you want a free movie at those Redbox machines, use promo code DVDONME
It will only work 1x (but for each different CC you use to checkout).
I used to get free promo codes every week.
Now it is just once a month.
3 ATM cards=3 free movies using same code.
